    The Area Manager is ultimately responsible for the quality, safety, performance, and risk management of the office and employees entrusted to his leadership. The Area Manager sets the tone for his team’s professionalism, work quality, responsibility, attitude, performance and success. The duties and responsibilities encompass all areas of Business Development, Risk Management, Leadership, Project Management, and Financial Management. This position requires at least five to ten (5-10) years experience exercising duties directly related to running a geotechnical engineering and material testing regional office. Candidate will have proven office leadership in business development, risk, staff, project and financial management; professionalism and integrity to build long-term client and employee relationships. Oversight of all quality control operations as they pertain to the branch office to assure quality control through guidance and professional management. Area Manager will have a direct management role overseeing Material, Engineering and Environmental departments. Office leader will carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the STRATA's culture, brand and operational policies, applicable laws. Responsibilities include procurement, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance and resolving problems. Will have direct supervisory roll over laboratory manager, project managers, inspectors, technicians (field and laboratory). CSM will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the STRATA’s culture, brand and operational policies, applicable laws, and other responsibilities as detailed above. Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    Additional Abilities: At least five to ten (5-10) years experience directly related to duties running a field office. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general plans and specifications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and co-workers and the general public. Ability to work independently on any job and demonstrate proficiency in resolving unforeseen issues on a job site. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form. Ability to oversee multiple projects at one time, multi-task and remain flexible with adjusting priorities. All management positions require the ability to meet accepted deadlines, within the proposed budget, through effective planning and organization skills. In general, should have the experience and ability to act professionally as the company liaison to its clients.

Our geotechnical CME-55 HT track mounted drill rig is used for soil sampling, rock coring and/or monitoring well installations to examine site conditions typically to depths of 80 feet or less. Positions based in Gillette, WY with occasional to frequent periods of work in ND. Class A CDL and mechanic skills required for this position. Applicants without experience operating a geotechnical drill rig will be asked to complete an introductory period as a Helper. MSHA preferred, clean driving record a must & subject to drug screens.

Ryan discovered the engineering and materials testing industry in 2008. Starting at a large-scale company, he began learning the the ins and outs of our profession from the best seat in the house--materials testing of asphalt, concrete and soil properties. When a position opened up at STRATA, he never looked back. He has recruited some of STRATA's key personnel--a construction services manager and one of their marketers. Ryan is now an ICC Soils Special Inspector and performs lead roles on some of our large transportation projects.

Ready for a change, in 2009 he advertised his resume. Within the hour, STRATA contacted him and the Moscow office has benefitted since. Matt recently earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and he intends to use his education and certifications to further his career and help grow STRATA.
