The Health Sciences Building consists of the construction of a four-story, 80,000 square foot facility with state-of-the-art teaching classrooms, labs, research centers, offices, study spaces, and an enclosed parking area on the ground floor. Construction includes foundation elements consisting of cast-in-place Portland cement concrete (PCC) footings, column pads, slabs-on-grade, and elevated slabs; concrete masonry unit walls with brick veneer on the exterior; structural steel elements including beams, metal decks, columns, braced-frames, and canopy; and spray-applied fireproofing and fire-stop. Site work includes installation of new utilities, site grading, new asphalt concrete parking area, and concrete sidewalks and curbs. STRATA is providing special inspection and construction materials testing for the project consisting of observation and field-testing of earthwork, subgrade preparation, slab-on-grade areas, aggregate placement and utility trench backfill; special inspection of reinforced concrete, structural masonry, fireproofing, fire-stop, and structural steel; sampling and testing of PCC; and sampling and testing of asphaltic concrete. Laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, and asphalt completes our scope of services.
