Transportation and Construction Inspection & TestingThe Spokane Airport East Terminal Ramp Remain-Overnight (RON) Aircraft Parking project consisted of extending the existing east terminal ramp to incorporate overnight aircraft parking to increase air carriers’ ability to stage for current routes at the airport. The project expanded pavement to the northeast of the existing terminal ramp and required removal and decommissioning of the airport-owned NOVA 9000 Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System, relocation of the vehicle service road, reconfiguration of an existing access drive, rehabilitation of the Gate G access road, installation of security identification display area fencing and associated gates, construction of a security wall, and relocation of the runway weather information system. STRATA’s field professionals provided quality assurance construction materials testing services by performing P-152 subgrade observations, P-401 hot mixed asphalt (HMA) pavement observation and testing, P-501 Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavement observation and testing, and P-610 structural PCC observation and testing. Laboratory testing included HMA core density, asphalt volumetrics properties, extraction gradation with moisture, and Rice maximum theoretical tests, and concrete testing included compressive strength of concrete cylinders, flexural strength of beams and concrete core thickness.
